American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall
This June before the reunion opens up for the weekend, The American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall will open and be on display to the public at Veterans point. An 80 percent scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., the wall measures nearly 400 feet long.
The AVTT Vietnam Wall contains every name etched on the original memorial. Since its inception, hundreds of thousands of people across the U.S. have viewed the wall.
The tribute will be FREE to the public at Veterans Point starting Wednesday, June 14th at noon. The wall will be open to the public 24/7 until Sunday, June 18th at 9am.
An honor escort will take place in El Dorado on June 14th as the wall makes its way to Veterans Point at El Dorado Lake. The escort will include legion riders, local law enforcement, and members of our KVFR family, and more! The wall will depart from the Days Inn by the Walmart at 8am. Please note that this is an honor escort. Not a parade, traffic will still be open to the public. Roads will not be blocked off or shut down.
We would like to encourage all of you to line the side of the streets as we escort the tribute to the lake.
UPDATE TO ROUTE: The honor escort will head east on Central(from the Days Inn), to Vine Street and turn North and head towards Dillons. At 6th street we will turn back to the north and go all the way to 12th Street. The tribute will turn east on 12th street and head towards the lake dam and pass by the lake office. The wall will pass thru the entry and end at veterans point, in front of the bathhouse(See the map below)
UPDATE: DUE TO SOME RAILROAD WORK HAPPENING ON MAIN STREET IN EL DORADO ON 6/14, OUR ESCORT ROUTE HAS HAD TO CHANGE. PLEASE SEE THE UPDATED ROUTE ABOVE. THIS ROUTE CHANGE MEANS WE WILL NOT PASS IN FRONT OF THE VFW.
